Constantin Mares
CEO, Chairperson of the Management Board, Quipu GmbH
Constantin Mares is a banking executive operating at the intersection of institutional governance, capital allocation discipline, and systemic technology modernization.
Across a 26‑year career in regulated financial institutions, including more than two decades in senior leadership positions, he has led organizations through structural transformation, restoring execution credibility while strengthening balance‑sheet resilience and operational predictability.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Quipu, the multi‑country technology platform of ProCredit Group. Appointed to restore delivery credibility and structural balance, he drove revenue growth while reducing the cost base and accelerating delivery throughput despite a reduced workforce.
Previously, as Chief Digital Officer of OTP Bank Romania, he led a decade‑long modernization of the bank’s technology and digital architecture. The transformation modularized core systems, introduced enterprise data governance, and improved delivery predictability by an order of magnitude.
Earlier in his career he held executive leadership roles at Millennium Bank Romania, where he served as both Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Corporate Banking. In these mandates he improved capital profitability, reduced structural costs by more than 30 percent, and executed major portfolio restructuring initiatives.
Constantin Mareș is recognized for combining executive governance discipline with deep enterprise architecture understanding — a rare intersection that enables technology modernization to reinforce institutional resilience rather than introduce systemic risk.
He has extensive exposure to regulatory and supervisory frameworks and regularly presents strategy and performance updates to Supervisory Boards and shareholders.
His leadership philosophy is grounded in a simple principle: technology and transformation initiatives must ultimately strengthen capital productivity, operational predictability, and institutional trust.
