Cutting Through the FinTech Noise

Program insights by Jasna Nedić: From setting the broader fintech context to defining applied solutions that shape the Finticipate Forum agenda.

Whenever I create the program for the Finticipate Forum, I face the same challenge: how to select, from a wide range of topics, those that are truly relevant, and not just the latest hype.

Today, almost everything can be labeled as fintech: innovations in payments and banking, digital identity, tokenization of securities, cryptocurrencies. The same goes for technologies, from traditional software solutions to artificial intelligence, blockchain, and beyond. There are many angles to consider, but very limited time.

To make the right choice of topics, I usually follow a funnel approach, moving from the general to the specific.

The first panel sets the broader context. Which fintech solutions have proven successful, and which have not? How does the macroeconomic environment affect their adoption?
How sustainable are technological solutions in times of an energy crisis? And how real are infrastructural risks, such as optical cable disruptions — perhaps more real than we tend to think? Regulation is, of course, an unavoidable topic, including how regulations adopted in the previous and current year impact concrete market solutions.

This is followed by the part I enjoy the most – conversations with you. With industry experts, fintech solution creators, bankers, lawyers, payments professionals, investors, and regulators. It is precisely through these discussions that we identify the questions that truly concern different market segments.

It is particularly important to me that the program includes as many practical, applied solutions as possible, while also taking a step back to ask what has changed, what has progressed, and where we are still facing the same challenges. This is how the themes of individual panels take shape.

The Forum format is complex, intentionally so. It needs to be large enough to bring together the right experts, yet focused enough to enable open dialogue that does not end on stage. Can one day cover all the important topics? Unfortunately, no. But what doesn’t make it to the stage continues in conversations during coffee breaks and the evening cocktail. And if that still isn’t enough, we are here to connect people and help those conversations continue long after the Forum ends.

This year, as we mark ten years of New Angles Consulting and the 5th edition of the Finticipate – SEE FinTech Forum, this complex process once again confirms that a meaningful program is built through attentive listening, dialogue, and a consistent focus on topics that truly matter.

See you at the 5th Finticipate Forum on May 29 at the Mona Plaza Hotel in Belgrade!
